The Reality and the Truth Turns out what we are.

Scene from Little Budha

It's important to us to get here the real meaning of this meeting, we can not put THIS into words, that is the first thing that needs to be made clear to each of you present at these meetings, this meeting is not intended to make clear in words, because it is just impossible, the truth is not something that can be defined, explained, we cannot define what is the truth, we can not put into words what is the truth.

In Satsang we settle down in silence, notice that we do not unite ourselves, we do not get together, we do not get together to do something. We cannot get to the truth, to sit in silence is the only purpose, the purpose of settle down in silence. The truth and the reality shows, the reality and the truth are revealed, it reveals itself as what we are, it is revealed as our true nature, all knowledge is limited, every definition is something stuck inside of the measures of thought, within measures of experience, knowledge, and meeting with the silence of Satsang is the encounter with the truth that we are, when we are quiet, seated together, as now here.

So the purpose of Satsang is to settle down in silence and find the terms in this silence, this truth of our real nature, nothing to add, nothing to put on it, we cannot put anything on it, there is nothing that can be done, there is nothing that can be discovered, uncovered in the sense that was hidden and now revealed, comes the light, the truth is not like that, the truth is  something present,it is not the truth that reveals itself , it is not coming to the light, the illusion that falls apart, the illusion falls in this silence, in this meeting, in the purpose that is Satsang.

Notice that the mind always wants to do something, you guys already tried everything, and when you come to this room or come to Satsang for the first time, or repeating the same mistake you do it a second time or third, the mind always tells you it has something to be done, something to do, something to learn, so you've tried everything, you are now trying Satsang.

The mind is never satisfied, it will never be, it is the nature of mind to search, without the movement of intention, the motive, the interest, the desire, the ambition, the mind disappears. Nothing satisfies the mind and then when it arrives it says: - I am here to have a greater satisfaction, I want something deeper, I want an experience that will give me a greater meaning, that satisfies me, that makes me whole, that makes me happy! - That's the speech of the mind. The mind is a kind of hand that grabs the experience, trying to hold back the water, the experience is always something going on, and the mind is always trying to grab the experience to maintain its continuity, it fears to disappear, it fears death, it fears the end, it fears to undress all, that is why we move around this way, we are always stuck or grabbing something.

A striking feature is that the fear is inside us, because of the presence of the mind, so it is always looking to do something, buy something, make something, get something, catch something, then it will get something and then try to hold, as it tries to hold water in its hand, the more it tightens more it escapes through the fingers, this is the play of consciousness, the mind will never be satisfied.

The mind is searching for millenniums, inside this mechanism it has only a few decades, but it has the same behavior of all of us, across the so-called human being, all those which we call human beings move that way, this is the movement of mind.

When you are invited to Satsang you are invited to this moment, the moment of stop it, the moment of realization of your True Nature, it is very scary for the mind, for the mind that is the death of you, as you know. The mind is afraid of losing something, but actually it has never had anything at all, we are always imagining having the imagination that we have something in this great game of thought, whereas in fact, what the mind is doing all the time, is this thing, trying to hold back, giving a meaning and interpreting everything.

Any questions?

PARTICIPANT: Who led us through this wrong path?

MG: This is an interesting question, I will modify this question, I'll ask; "When did this happen?" - The question here is when it happened, not who led us ...

PARTICIPANT: When was there a break?

MG: We're only facing a game, when asked who and when there is not a who, nor is there a when. When we disconnect from the source? Never! It is always what it is, the source never fails to be the source, there is not someone disconnected from the source, the mind is living a misconception, the illusion of separateness, the illusion of an entity, an identity that moved away, which broke away from the source, which is disconnected from the source, and when the question involves time, is the notion of the mind, that same movement away at some point, that's  the “when” point. The illusion that someone breaks and the illusion of time, the mind, the illusion has no beginning, it can only has the end, but it does not start, the illusion never got to someone, but it can end for a mechanism for this , or that other one. That's when it can have an end, it may have an end in this mechanism, but in reality it has never started so it cannot end, it ends to that mechanism, then it ends to another mechanism, then to another one, this is curious because when it ends for this mechanism or another one, for this or for that one it becomes clear that it has never started, it was just a game, a big joke. "Cacau" ( the Master's wife) says that one day it has began ... And the question is for who and when? This who is not real in any time, “when”  it is not real in anytime either , because there is no time, we are dealing with a paradox, a joke. The truth is not hidden in time.

PARTICIPANT: Master the Paltalk's Satsang threatens mind? Here it seems that is exhausting and I'm almost sleeping... But when it ends, I become 100% awake ...

MG: That's exactly it, Satsang is dangerous even at Paltalk, the mind has no interest in it here, it also happens  personally, it  knocks a strange drowsiness, then when we do a break, everyone is super alert, speaking a lot, then we restart the Satsang and the sleep is back again, you may have woken up in the morning, having slept all night, there is nothing being treated here that interests the mind . (laughs).

Actually this is the great miracle that each of you are looking for, it is the miracle of the world without the person's life going on, without the sense of separation, the miracle that is God Himself, Grace itself, Life itself , Reality itself, this very direct and the Presence, it is an absolutely natural miracle, the sense of separation from the order, the order of the sense of separateness, the end of fear, the end of the search, that to the mind is something very, very scary, the miracle of birth, someone calls this awakening or illumination, I call it Natural State, it is the collapse of the sense of self, me, ego, belief and unbelief, what in Zen they call cutting firewood and carrying water, what they call in Zen of taking rice porridge and then washing the bowls. The question master; took his soup and the disciple says yes and the Master says, now go wash your bowls. Absolute simplicity, absolute naturalness, in everyday life, the great miracle, and a mind that tries to do this and never can, the mind of the seeker is always looking to capture it, within its schedule and cannot. It means life happening and no one doing anything, no one inside, nothing spiritual, nothing mystical, nothing philosophical, nothing religious, nothing miraculous, this is the great miracle.

Love is your natural state, peace is your natural state, the truth is your natural state, being is your natural state, God is your natural state, and there's nothing spiritual about it, nothing unusual. Are we together guys?

Here is nothing to fear, here death is presented as a concept  ...

PARTICIPANT: I still feel a lot the death of my daughter, I would feel it in the whole of eternal life but I still feel a great emptiness of separation, there is no peace yet.

MG: Enter deeply in  it, not separate from this pain, it is an experience going there in this mechanism, when you say I would feel it in the whole, are you trying to do anything with this feeling? Do you want to get rid of the pain, the question is: who wants to get rid of this pain, there's only pain, there isn´t someone in pain experience, there isn´t someone out there in this big empty experience, there's no one out there in the experience of separation, who establishes the presence of pain, let it comes to fore, let it show itself, let it reveal itself, just the pain, do not put an identity on it, do not put someone special who can not feel it there, do not put someone saying; "I would feel differently, I would get rid of that emptiness, I would get rid of this separation, like peace.

PARTICIPANT: It is present 24 hours a day.

MG: No, it is not present, you need to embrace it entirely for a minute, for a minute, it already does a great job there, what happens is that  the resistance is present 24 hours a day, welcome it just for a minute, but with whole, wholly, completely, without any thought, without any belief, no thought, no memory, only the welcome feeling, just a feeling, a memory disregard, disregard the mental images that arise at this time, but do it  only  for a minute, but with great intensity, that is the only way for you to honor this feeling, this feeling is the only way you could free your daughter, that is important that you experience in reality that your daughter is just a picture, with a background of pain, embrace the pain, welcome the pain, just for a minute, abandon all imagination about it, every imagination, every memory, every reminder, if the body shakes, this has no problem, if the tears arrive, taking the body, and if the emotion is so strong that throws the body on the floor, no problem, whatever happens in the level of the body, with no memory is something going on, it will not do you any harm, it's only a break in the pattern of memory. I want to see you this weekend here in São Paulo ok?

Well guys let's stop here, thanks for the meeting see you next meeting at Paltalk and our next personally meeting in São Paulo.

Namaste!

What is anxiety basically?

Everything that anyone has is not from her or him, it's what happens at this very moment. This has nothing to do with him or her. Nothing is personal, individual or private in this very moment happening. So it's not about you. You're a fraud when there's an identity at this present moment.

What is anxiety basically? The illusion you're important.

You at this moment is not enough, then something must happen to you in two minutes or five...Anxiety is looking for something in the future. And you have to...

PARTICIPANT : But in my case is not anxiety, it's all the things I have to do, and the others I left undone.

M.G. : Hum...Great! Who did not do? Where's this self right now? If there's no  thought right here and now, where's this self? See that this myself arises with the thought that something needs to be done. So it arises someone that does something, or can do something, or need to do...Without this self,  nothing will happen. And all this is only thoughts happening, happening where? In this engine, in this body-mind. This has nothing to do with what you are. The body and the mind are both happening right now, you in your Real Nature, that´s what it is, the pure Consciousness who witnesses the body and the mind in this very moment is not involved with it.
It's always the mind giving an identity. When I say the mind, I say this ensemble of thoughts giving an identity to this alleged me that is here, now at this very moment. There's no self here and now at this very moment. Thoughts are happening there, witness these thoughts, be their  witness, don't give any energy to them, don't give an identity to them and the anxiety ends.
In fact all energy is the Presence`s energy and it is here now. Your freedom is only not to identify yourself with these thoughts. Ceases powering them, the sense of self is not present, all becomes clear. And there you are, in your being, in your Real State, in your natural state.
Because for the mind, this present moment is indigestible. Do you realize it? Do you see? This present moment, there's nothing to do here.

PARTICIPANT : I cannot connect...

M.G: So, look at this no connection, look at this agitation. This is happening right here, right now. Any action taken from that agitation is an agitated action that will generate more conflict, more clutter, more suffering. Because it was an action born from this anxiety. So accept it. Look at it now, look at this no connection. The mind says : you're not connected, you're agitated, take it easy! Or the mind says you'll solve it all, if you go to this path or that action. Then it turns into anxiety.
Is that clear? And deep inside everything is happening in the present moment. So everything can be seen now. Let it be, this agitation, this no connection, just look at it, look at it. That's how it has been happening to us during our whole life. Whenever there is a better time than this, it's only a moment created by the thought, or that set of thoughts, what moment is better to accomplish something? And at this very moment comes another thought and says : there's another time it was better to do that and something greater to be done. And so we spend our whole life with no perception that this present moment is where it all happens, is where everything happens and this has nothing to do with you, it's simply an event of existence, it is not you, it's Life going on.
That is Peace. That is Silence. That is Freedom. That is not anxiety, not fear, not future, not past. That's not enough if we agree with this intellectually, we are here, together at this meeting, just to see it, right here, right now.

There's no difference between you, God and the Guru.

There's something that needs to be considered here for each one of you. What is constituted as the most important factor in this awakening, is that it needs an intensity for this, a total surrender. Not like those resolutions, born from a desire that comes and goes, but something that is real, that makes you burn, burn like a candle. There is a good word for it: Devotion, devotion is needed. Devotion is synonymous of surrender, surrender to God, to yourself, to what it is , devotion to the work, devotion to what you are, it is fidelity to yourself. This is the rendezvous with the Truth itself.

Because the truth is not apart from you, it is found in you. And there is no way to fool the heart. That is the way it happens, when we find the work or when we are found by it, that is to be found by God, that is to be found by the Guru, that is to be found by the Master.

There is no separation between you, God and the work. There is no difference between what you are, what God is, and what the Guru is. So there's no devotion to another, there is only a devotion, pure and direct devotion to IT, which is the Truth. And this willingness to let it go, to dismiss, to let disappear all things that still hold you,  that keep  you on the ground, the illusion of space. This provision is only possible in this surrender, this devotion, this burning for it.

The devotion Will always be required, surrender will always be necessary, the burning for IT Will always be necessary, the Guru Will always be necessary. God is the only need. And this is nothing, this is only yourself. It's you being necessary, it is you recognizing yourself, it's you going beyond this limitation made by the illusion of the mind. That's what means the surrender, the Truth.

When Jesus said, I am the door. He was saying "I Am". He refers to you, your own inner nature, which  is you in your own natural state, realizing yourself, in this devotion, in this surrender, this provision of Being. That's what we're talking about.

It is possible to feel, to live, to experience without any sense of separation that pure devotion to the Guru, to God, to yourself, to this work,it  is all only one thing. This "I Am" is the only door to this realization. This "I Am" is Christ, is you, is the Truth, is God, is what it is. The names are different, but the same grace, the same Presence, the same Guru, the same disciple. Only the names are different.

This surrender to God is the surrender to yourself, there's no separate God from Who you are. This surrender to the Guru is the surrender to yourself, there's no Guru separated from you. Master, teaching and disciple, one and the same thing.

Only the mind creates division, creates separation, and holds itself in no-devotion, in no-surrender, to keep itself in continuity, by pure fear of no longer being who it is, what it believes to be, of disappearing,of dying.

This realization of Who you are, is the realization of real devotion to thisTruth.

There is only happiness, peace and love in this freedom of being yourself, in this "I Am". That's the point here. This  is devotion. That's  the Love of  what it is. Love to the Truth above any idea, belief or concept about it. A willingness to be: Pure Being, Pure Presence, Pure Grace, Pure Truth.

That's it!

You are not trustworthy, the Grace is!

Once more, another meeting in Satsang. Satsang is a face to face with that challenge. The challenge you have in Satsang is to find yourself. To encounter yourself means to go beyond your beliefs, your patterns, beyond liking or disliking, beyond this individual, personal behavior, this thing of having preferences. When we talk about a sense of a separate identity, it gets very vague. This only really starts being seen when it becomes to bother. In fact, you are fed up with this but you don’t have any conscious about it. You are constantly in a self-defensive state. In this self-defensive state you don’t want to be bothered, you don’t want to be “invaded”, hurt, upset, offended. This challenge for you is something very painful.

And the challenge here is to unmask this sense of a present identity. That is why Satsang is lethal. These Satsang talks are exactly pointing to this. It is very easy to listen to a talk like this. The mind rationalizes right away about what is means, jumping to conclusions about it, about this thing that is being said. However, like this this is harmless. In fact, this is not Satsang. Satsang is to be in front of this challenge that is the Grace, that is this unmasking, which is to evidence the possibility of the end of the illusion, the illusion of this identity – the one that likes, dislikes, controls, the one that does not want to be hurt.

So we stay with what is practical about this. We are no longer in front of the theory. It is in this sense that Satsang works, it is the mirror of this Presence in the light of the Master, the one that is awakened, that is not unconscious abut this. Only this mirror is an ideal one. That is what I call real investigation; to allow yourself to look at this, allowing not to be spared. Your mind is full of reasoning, full of projections, full of beliefs, ideas. You even know how the Master should behave. You even know how to pick the ideal Master. The ideal Master for you is that one who cannot reflect you. The ideal Master for you is the one who loves you. And this “you” is the illusion. This “you” is this supposed “self”. That supposed separated identity; presumptuous, proud, that knows everything, busy with itself.

It is exactly why this has to be looked by you: the belief that you have about yourself. A real mirror, a proper mirror, is the alive Presence of the pure Consciousness, this flame that burs this illusion. There is the Master, uncomfortable, painful, hard to deal, hard to accept, but that is how it is.  Your ego will want to run away, but it will never tell you that that is the ego. Once more it will try imply that it is you having the problem solving “intelligence”, this “intelligence” of not being manipulated, this “intelligence” of having the perfect judgment. In fact, you want this liberation but in a way that you can want this liberation – still being “you”. It is free “you”, your own way.

All these are tricks, tricks to continue with this fake identity. What we are saying with this talk, this meeting tonight, is that this ego, this “self”, this “me”, this fake identity, this sense of being “someone”, won’t surrender, won’t give in. He will keep running away. He will survive to every bomb, every attack by land or air, to every move the Grace makes. He will disguise, he will hide, he will escape. He does not say he is you, you don’t feel that you are him, and that is the way he manages it. This is why we have been insisting on this thing, on the emphasis of Satsang, when “you” get exposed and the pain appears, the fear appears.

Some of you have already decided to leave. There is the pain somewhere there happening. Some have already left, and others keep a certain distance not to hurt too much. But I have something to say to you: this does not work. To realize this is go through the pain, to discover that all this is an illusion, that there is not really any challenge, only this supposed identity feeling that as challenging and able to do anything to escape from this.

P – The biggest pain is to find oneself.

M – Yes, that is right. The biggest pain is the sense of Separateness. The biggest pain is the sense of having a separated identity. The biggest pain is the fear. What we are pointing to you in Satsang is the end of fear, the end of this sense of Separateness. We are pointing to you in Satsang to the path of the bliss, the happiness, the freedom, the love, the peace. We are pointing in Satsang to your Real Nature, to the Real Life. You are not trustworthy, the Grace is. This Presence is trustworthy. God is trustworthy.

That is why it takes a shape. If you cannot find him in a shape, you cannot find him without shape. It is in the form that you see yourself, it is in the form that you have to find him.

When you meet him in a body, you are beyond the body. If you cannot find him as the Master, you cannot find him in yourself. This “yourself” is only a theory, only a mental concept, only a belief, only a “non shape”, only a concept of something inside. This is, in fact, because you see yourself through the body, you see yourself through the form. There are some aspects there that can be investigated. We can talk about this for a good time. The problem is that your mind will edit this thing, it will make cuts. The mind knows wisely how to choose what is suitable. Therefore, it is not enough talking about this outside the actual meetings. So come to the Satsang meetings, look into my eyes, and allow me to look into your eyes.

Allow you to be angry with me, to see envy in me, ambition in me, desires and fears in me, allow you to see arrogance in me, pride, and a really big ego. Everything you see is yourself, everything is here. In fact, you are seeing something outside yourself. But what you are seeing outside yourself is part of the belief that you have about the world, and this is settling in this ground, the ground of this fake identity, pretending to be you. This means pure unconsciousness, this means fear. Ego is fear. A person is fear. While the person is still there, the fear is there. The person there is the illusion of someone seeing things on the outside.

What we always keep saying to you in Satsang is that you are beyond repair, you don’t have a salvation. You cannot be repaired; there is no treatment for you. What you have is to disappear. This is something simple, but it is not something easy to do. This is the end of unconsciousness. This is your end. The end of the person.

P – I am in fact, tiered of the psychological and mental suffering of the talkative mind. It seems to me that the simple knowledge of the spiritual things, philosophies, are not helping me to be a better person.

M – So now? What do you still think you can do?

P – I really don’t know. What I know is that it hasn’t been working.

M – This is really good. You have reached a great point. I really hope you have reached this point. Probably you have already stopped reading all the books, have stopped practicing, have stopped going to esoteric, philosophical, religious, mystical bookshops.

P – Yes. And with that it comes an emptiness of not having reached anywhere.

M – That is the point. Awakening, to realize God, Illumination, any name you give, is not to reach there. This “reaching there” is still just a mind’s projection. This is the first thing to be understood: there is no way to reach there, because there is no “there”, and no one there to reach anywhere. In an objective, practical way, what I can tell you is that some work needs to be done. But not a work to look for something, to practice something, to dedicate yourself to philosophy or spirituality. It is a work of investigation of that thing that acts like it is you but that it is not you, it is not your Real Nature.

So, this finishes with this illusion – the illusion of the ego, the illusion of the self, the illusion of the sense of being someone. When this ends, the Awakening is present, the Realization is present. This is the end of the dissatisfaction, this is the end of the suffering. In India, they call this Sat-Chit-Ananda, Being-Consciousness-Bliss. Satsang means to be in front of this directly, to be in this self investigation. That is meditation, that is this surrender to your Real Nature. I recommend you, and everybody present: come to Satsang. You cannot realize this by yourself, but you can be vulnerable, to allow this realization in Satsang. It is not you that realizes, it is God that realizes, it is the Grace that realizes, it is the Master that realizes, it is this Presence that realizes, it is your Real Nature becoming aware of itself.  This is the end of the mental patterns. This is all that the mind does not want to do.

P – I have read those same tales from others awakened: “the self is not real, it is an illusion”, but so what? What understanding and comprehending this is worth for?

M – It is exactly that. That is nor worth for anything. It is just another belief. To read what others awakened say or have said, hear what they say or have said, none of this works. What works is to surrender to this Presence. What works is the action through this Grace, to be in front of the Grace, the Grace in a form. The Master in a form, the awakened in a form. He is not his words, he is not his sayings, he is you, he is your Real Nature, he is this real mirror.  That is where the work takes place. He will provoke you, he will contest you, he will upset you, he will annoy you. He will be everything you need to see on yourself; your bad angel and your good angel, your own devil and your own God. And it is only you who will see this, there is nobody else to see this but you. This works, the rest is only theories, concepts, beliefs, words, bla, bla, bla.

That is it.
